In 2023, we ran a global survey testing retail traders' knowledge of core market mechanics. Not a single respondent answered all questions correctly. In fact, not a single question was answered correctly by any respondent whatsoever. That confirmed what we’d long observed firsthand: the gap in understanding is systemic — most participants have no idea what they’re investing in.
Our Founder & CEO, Ryan Simpson, took a contrarian path starting in 2019. He rejected all widely taught trading education and set out to reverse-engineer the Derivatives market from the ground up.

Meet the Founder & CEO
Ryan Simpson, pictured here in Simpson Capital, LLC’s headquarters in Finland, is originally from a small rural community in New Zealand. Despite living in Finland with his wife and two children nowadays, he has spent the majority of his life in the Southern Hemisphere, including nearly a decade in Australia.
Beginning his career path in the heavy industries as a Heavy Diesel Specialist Technician, and later a Heavy Machinery Operator and Road Train Operator, Ryan worked across New Zealand and Australia as both an employee and employer, covering a vast array of sectors and gaining a huge variety of experience, before deciding to follow his passion for numbers, charts, and all things finance.
He proudly attributes his ability to solve the Derivatives industry to his time as a Heavy Diesel Specialist Technician.
